Hi Friends,
Last night we capped off a fun-filled week of Thanksgiving travel getting together at home with the local kiddos. It’s always such a whirlwind of activity when the littles are here, and it’s hard to stay “in the moment”:.. non-stop food, toys, games, potty runs, music, dancing, and all kinds of sillies packed into a few hours. It’s a real effort for me to slow down and really pay attention.

I felt the same way when I was raising my kids. It was honestly sometimes just a blur, and a super good thing that I have photos to prove that I was really there. It’s pretty obvious why I had nightmares of saving the kids from a tidal wave, searching for lost children (well, that actually happened in real life more than once), or trying to ride a bike with square wheels or no handlebars. Waking up at 2am with a vague sense of dread that I had forgotten to do something important was a regular occurrence.
It’s impossible to try to make every single minute count, which can lead to a sense of guilt and regret – both are pointless.
But there is an antidote.
I’m expressing simple, little nuggets of gratitude throughout the day, taking nothing for granted. I’m privileged to have a healthy family, a cozy home, a supportive and loving partner, and the ability to use my body in ways I choose, for myself, and in my work with others. I’m also being easier on myself.

I’m most grateful for two main things:
1. The people in my life who support and love me.
2. The opportunities I have to make a difference.
Number one leads to number two => supporters help us see opportunities.
Both of these together enable me to have the courage to take risks, accept that I might fail – and be willing to try again. And again.
Thank you for joining me every day, reading my writing, and training with me. Thank you for trusting me to me to support you as your coach, mom, and grandma. Most of all, thanks for doing the work, learning, growing, getting stronger, it’s YOU, doing work that matters for you and for me.
It’s Cyber Monday, and I admit that I’m doing some online shopping – in the hustle of consumerism – another privilege to be able to buy more dumbbells to add to the home gym, and presents for each of the grandkids.
I love it so much when you comment on what I write about. Your thoughts are a big part of what keeps me going.
x
