Resilience is the process of being able to adapt to stress and bounce back quickly.
It’s a good thing that I have a capacity for chaos because that’s the way it was raising 6 kids. Snow day. Sick kid. No school. Pivot. It builds and escalates between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Adaptation -> resilience, rewind and repeat. Bounce, bounce…
Stress is everywhere, family, holidays, what we eat, weather, work, trauma, and even exercise. Stress can lead to negative outcomes, or it can be a catalyst for positive change.
Stress affects the human body and mind 24/7, and health outcomes are determined by how we respond to stress.
“The concept of resilience should permeate your day. Habits aren’t created with a few minutes of focused effort each day. They are strengthened with consistent practice and self-awareness.”
Resilience is a quality and skill that can be attained and enhanced, but it requires effort and consistency, being aware – conscious, and intentional. You don’t have to do it alone. Resilience can be developed with a a support system and positive relationships.
I wish you strong relationships, healthy habits, and resilience for a wonderful bounce into 2022!
Onward!
