Hello friends!
We’re back on the road!
I’ve been rowing and strength training and not so much riding, so it’s time to start getting some miles in training for this awesome event. It starts and finishes at Trinity Church in Asbury Park with a picnic, including massages!
Today’s ride was a short spin through the rapidly developing, upscale area on the waterfront in Long Branch. This is the first part of all of the routes for the Jersey Shore Ride For Food Justice on September 9th.
We’ve been on the committee for the Ride since its inception 5 years ago, and it’s grown every year.
The primary objective of the ride is to fight hunger and assist with funding those organizations that best deliver nutritious food directly to those most in need in our local community.
100% of the money raised will be used to support Trinity’s Food Justice programs which include:
- Saturday Soup which feeds over 200 people per week
- The Food Pantry which hands out over 600 bags of food per week
- Women’s Hospitality Network which provides a warm place to sleep during the winter months for women experiencing homelessness,
- Radical Housing Program
Trinity’s Food Justice program serves over 30,000 meals a year and provides services to hundreds of adults and children in our community.
I’m inviting you to join our team The Stoics, (scroll down to join the team), you can create your own team, or ride solo. Ride any distance – 15, 30, or 62 miles, and there’s also a kids’ ride this year. The event ends with a lovely picnic, massages, and even acupuncture. You can get an awesome jersey, and the entire kit!
Donations and business sponsors too please. It’s all right here.
We’ll be getting on bikes regularly from now until September 9th, and I would love you to join a training ride, and to strength train too! Click options for training sessions: http://getupkeepmoving.com
